I've been involved in Scouting Leadership since my son Michael decided to join as a Wolf Cub.

As a boy in rural Massachusetts in the early 1960's I was a member of Pack 35 and earned the Arrow of Light Award. The experience was a good one, and when my son Michael wanted to join Scouts in 1993 we joined Pack 846 in Milford, Ohio.  I volunteered to be the Den Leader for Mike's Den. Before the year was out, I was the Assistant Cubmaster. I then served for three years as the Pack Committee Chairman for Pack 846.

Mike received his Arrow of Light in 1997, and bridged over to Troop 415 where he participated for a year before losing interest. I have "retired" as Pack Committee for Pack 846, but served in Troop 415 as an Assistant Scoutmaster for a year, and on the Troop Committee for another year. I'm now fully retired from Scouting.

Scouting is a great opportunity for boys to learn a great deal about life. Learning to get along, to share, to develop physical skills, and to have a place to belong... They learn to win tactfully, and lose gracefully all in an environment of fun. Sometimes it even rubs off on their parents! Contact your local District Headquarters for more information about Scouting in your area!
